Developed by Tom Pfeiffer of VolcanoDiscovery, Volcanoes & Earthquakes is an earthquake and volcano tracker for iPad users. It shows seismic and volcanic activity from across the world on a simple and easy-to-use interface. It gathers data from more than 40 international agencies and sources, such as USGS, GFZ, and EMSC.

Unlike SeisMac, this application doesn’t turn mobile devices into seismographs. Instead, it displays interactive maps of current earthquakes and volcanoes, similar to Earthquake Network.

What can it do?

This earthquake & volcano tracking app shows the latest earthquakes and volcanic eruptions as lists and maps. It sends out alerts, classifies, and filters seismic and volcanic activity by country, name, age, and magnitude, and reports ash emissions. Users can view earthquakes over 1.5 and 6 in magnitude for up to 7 days and one year, respectively.
